All wild agarwood trees, be they on federal, state or privately-owned land, CANNOT be felled, harvested or sold/exported without:

1)a quota from the nation's relevant gaharu Management Authority (MA), to the applicant or landowner on whose land the tree stands.
2)a Removal Pass (Pas Pemindahan) from the Forestry Department or Conservation Directorate of that nation. This Pass, if ever issued, will be based on the quota given out to the applicant by the MA.
3)A CITES Export Permit.
This permit is issued by the MA on a NON-TRANSFERABLE 'per consignment' basis and MAY/WILL only be issued if the application is fully supported by a valid Removal Pass. As I mentioned, on a PER CONSIGNMENT BASIS. There is no blanket CITES permit for anyone for all his/her/their trees.
4)In the case of imported agarwood meant for re-export, a Re-Export CITES Permit will be issued if the application is supported by a valid CITES permit from its country of origin.
5) In many cases, a Phytosanitary Certificate for the agarwood is required by authorities in receiving countries, if we want to export/re-export agarwood from ours. This certificate is issued by the Agricultural Department of the country and will only be issued only AFTER a CITES permit is acquired for the consignment and the wood is inspected by them.
So folks, please be aware of these relevant and mandatory documents (except the Phyto Cert). No one in the agarwood domain can bypass any of these laws, regulations or pre-requsites and sell you a wild gaharu tree like selling a banana tree (if anyone ever sold a banana tree, ha ha ha).
Remember, a wild or ancient gaharu tree is a protected endangered species and it is ILLEGAL to fell any of them even it or they on your own backyard or in your property. Purchasing it from others after being influenced by scammers or conmen will DEFINITELY bring you a big time loss and regret because THERE IS NOTHING you can do about it. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS.
Another 2 things to remember:
1) Oud essential oil NEVER OOZES out from the stem of agarwood trees like latex from a rubber tree. It has to undergo a distillation process like
water hydrolisis, steam or Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE). Don't be easily fooled.
2)Resinous wood from wild or even ancient trees DO NOT form everywhere in the tree, but only at places badly infected or damaged by the forces of nature. In most known cases, only a small percentage formed, mostly at the branches very high up in the trees. This too, we will only know after the branch(es)or the whole tree has been (legally) chopped down.
Fakers, scammers and conmen will narrate to you the most beautiful, made-up fairytales just to get you to part with your hard-earned money and buy their tree(s). Oftentimes, they themselves have very, very little or even zero-knowledge about agarwood formation and oud oil production but try to impress innocents by pretending to be wizards of the gaharu industry.
So......beware.!
Sharing means caring.
